Beginning Apologetics
The “First Class” recording for this class is available in the Video Class Library. It was recorded live and there are a number of ideas that could be developed more completely and communicated more clearly. Vote for this course to make the final, polished, in-studio revision a higher priority.
What is “apologetics”? Hint: it doesn’t mean saying, “I’m sorry for being Catholic.” Apologetics actually means understanding and sharing the reasons that we believe what we believe as Catholics. This course will introduce you to the basics of Catholic apologetics, including a basic framework for explaining the reasons for our belief. We’ll then explore some of the most common apologetics questions, such as did Christ really intend to found a Church, why do Catholics pray to Mary and the saints, why do Catholics honor Mary, why do we believe in Jesus’ real presence in the Holy Eucharist, and what is the Catholic understanding of the Bible?
