“I am free to follow my conscience.” Is this a true statement? As with most things theological, a lot depends on how you define your terms. How do we as Catholics understand the moral conscience? How do we understand freedom? The buried treasure here is that God calls us to use our conscience to freely participate in His goodness. The hard part? Forming and following your conscience often means doing what is right and good when doing so is the most difficult.
